MIAMI, DAY 3: Our Journey Comes to an End...For Now

Sadly, today’s our last day in Miami. It’s been amazing, but the fun’s not over yet!

Today, we’re at Tunas, a bar/restaurant here in Miami. I hear they serve up the most interesting martinis in town.
In Miami, it’s totally acceptable to have martinis for lunch! Right?!

We head outside to their open-air bar, called the Rum Runners Bar. There’s a beautiful breeze and the sound of seagulls flying overhead make the atmosphere super chill.

I’ve done lots of cooking on the trip, but today I get to play bartender!! I meet with Tunas bartender, who is a self-proclaimed martini master!

Patio Bar at Tunas
It’s early and I’ve only had one cup of coffee so he’s going to show me one of his signature drinks, the espresso martini!!

We grab some glasses and shakers and start the drink. All kinds of goodies are going into the espresso martini. I can’t remember exactly what we put in, but I think there was some Baileys, some mocha mixture, a double shot of espresso and sprinkled cocoa around the rim –the perfect pick-me-up with a kick! Mmmm!

Next drink – the oyster martini! I know it sounds strange, but this was actually really good. We put real oysters in with some fruit and vodka. Again, I can’t remember exactly what went into it, but definitely lots of oysters! This drink is a true work of art!

Jena and I indulge in the shockingly stimulating oyster martini. Whoa! It’s strange, but SO good. It tastes so strong that I instantly feel a buzz, just from the flavor!  OK, I can officially start my day! Cheers to our last day!

BAYSIDE MARKETPLACE

Tonight, we’re having our wrap party at Bayside, in downtown Miami.

It’s been an amazing trip, and I’m sad to leave Miami tomorrow. But right now, I’m ready to enjoy Bayside.

Bayside is an open-air shopping plaza right on the waterfront in downtown Miami. There’s live music, shops and of course drinks! It’s magical. There are twinkle lights strewn throughout and the energy is heightened.

Party boats are docked and unloading tipsy passengers who wander throughout to shop, drink and listen to live music.
Orlando J and his band, Clave (pronounced claw-vay) are on stage entertaining the crowd with spicy salsa music with some rock favorites thrown in as well. Aw, Miami you do not disappoint.

There’s a lot to see here. We wander through the plaza, checking out shops and even wild animals that are on display. There’s a margarita bar in front of the docks and couches to chill on.

We spend some time relaxing while enjoying Orlando J’s performance, then he takes a break and it’s time for me to get an interview!

I meet Orlando on the upper plaza level, overlooking the bay. The sun is beginning to set and the view is beautiful. Orlando is a cool cat, rocking the fedora and Cuban accent. He’s very charming and we chat a bit about what’s it’s like to perform in Bayside.

Orlando has become a staple here at Bayside, playing every Tuesday night to his dedicated fans. Soon, It’s time for Orlando to get back to the stage, so we head downstairs for one last performance.

Orlando really gets the crowd going with a little latin-fusion.

So, I may have let on during our interview that I love salsa dancing…. So of course he calls me to the stage. Gulp! Oh well! This is my last night in Miami – might as well go out dancing!

I jump on stage with Orlando and we salsa our booties off, which gets the crowd up on the dance area in front of the stage… even Jena and Cristina jump in on the action. I join the girls and dance like no one’s watching. I couldn’t think of a more perfect way to end our trip!
