MIAMI, DAY 2: Yo Ho Ho, To Hollywood We Go

Le Tub Saloon

Today, we’re going to Hollywood! (the one in Florida, obviously)

Our local friend Richard picks us up in his boat to go grab lunch! It seems like in Miami you can take a boat just about anywhere- even restaurants. SO cool!  I feel like a pirate! Arrg!

We cruise up the channels toward Hollywood. Before hitting the beach, we’re gonna stop for lunch at Le Tub – a lagoon-side restaurant.

Looks like a pirate hangout to me!

We dock at Le Tub and climb up the wooden steps to enter the restaurant and bar. Le Tub is this little gem hidden between lush tropical foliage. It’s beautiful and feels like a jungle.

As we enter the restaurant, we notice a toilet! Really a toilet! And then we see a tub, and another tub, and a sink -each with plants growing out of them. It’s like a plumber’s graveyard was here a long time ago and a jungle grew over it.. odd, but somehow it feels good. Let’s check it out!

I meet the owner Steve, who shows us around and tells me about all the awards the place has won. He also tells me Oprah is a big fan of their burgers. So, I must try this burger!

Steve orders me a burger and a margarita – and they both taste amazing! Seriously, the burger is the best I’ve ever tasted, and it’s huge!

The team orders a variety of goodies like crab legs, burgers and bloody marys and we sit on the deck overlooking the waterfront to enjoy! Le Tub is a winner! Everything we ordered was so delicious. The environment and view were both relaxing and refreshing and the service was super friendly.

If you’re in the Miami/Hollywood area, do yourself a favor and hit up Le Tub. You must try the burger!

HOLLYWOOD BEACH:

After Le Tub. We head over to the beach!

Hollywood Beach is really beautiful! There’s a 2.5 mile long cobblestone boardwalk (called the Broadwalk here because it’s wide) winding along the beachfront shops. We’re going to rent some surrey bikes to cruise the boardwalk – fun!

These surrey bikes are so cute! You must rent one if you’re in Hollywood Beach. Check it out:

Surrey Bikes come in 2, 4, and 6 passenger - and everyone can peddle!

Oh gosh, I feel like such a little kid riding the surrey down the boardwalk. It’s SO much fun, eeeeee!

The beach is really clean and peaceful – not crowded at all. This is the beach to visit for a little R&R.

As we cruise down the boardwalk on our surrey bikes, we have the perfect view of the crashing waves and beach on one side, and the shops on the other. We wind past dozens of small cafes, souvenir and candy shops and an outdoor theater. We’re told there are concerts there most nights of the week.

This place is so cute! Family-friendly for sure! There are rollerbladers and bikers on the path with us, but it’s wide enough for everyone! We stop for some ice cream and souvenir shopping along the way. This is a real treat!

There are no high-rise hotels here! Just a few cute motels and I notice some RVs parked in the lots along the walk. Although just 20 minutes from Miami’s glamorous South Beach, Hollywood’s laid-back atmosphere makes it seem like worlds away.

This is the perfect place to relax, refresh and unwind. So, bring your rollerblades or rent a bike and take a stroll through this charming beach-side escape.
